Been trying to o/c my computer recently since on recent games (rise and fall and fear) my fps has been below 20 and basically unbearable. Turned out I had to manually mod the CPU myself (cut holes into my CPU using a knife + magnifing class) and then be able to o/c it using software. Well I finally did it and I can now o/c my pc!!!!! I post the results here.

Wow that is some tricky stuff. What exactly is overclocking though?

overclocking is basically increasing the speed and performance of your pc by spending no money. It has it's disadvantages and advantages but you must know what you are doing otherwise you can seriously damage your pc. heres a link to explain it en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overclocking

LOL, you have to cut holes in your PC using knifes!
I'm currently not professional enough to do these stuffs...

I have an X2 3800+ which is great for overclocking. They run at 2.0Ghz stock but I have both cores at 2.4Ghz. I could probably push them up to 2.5.
I haven't OC'd my GPU yet, I think I shall wait for a while, its just new.

nice, first ever pc i o/c was my pentium 2 233mhz with I think a 8mb gfx card (those were the days). Got it to 315mhz (increased more than a 1/3 of the processor) so I could play unreal tournament ;D

How Normandy overclocks his PC: Step 1. Stab his computer. Step 2. Use software he wrote himself with the help of Abrahim Lincoln. Step 3. Call the fire departement.
Follow his example, and you will have a better computer!
But Im not into stabbing things that carry an ELETRIC charge with a METAL knife, so I will keep my under-clocked computer.
BTW PzK you play UT?

well i used to play UT untill my cd got scratched and couldnt install it anymore. Most mobo's arnt actually necessary to cut holes onto the cpu and you can simply overclock it using the BIOS. (The reason I miss my old a7n8x). So far I have been pretty successful in o/c but now basically need better cooling.
Increased the voltage to 1.69 and brought FSB to 180 (any higher and it is unstable). 2075mhz - 2249mhz. Its kinda a minor o/c but currently there is alot of heat coming off cpu (49c) and I need better cooling before i can go further. Also o/c my nivdia geforce fx 5600 256mb gfx card.
Here are my current benchmarks Before O/C
3d Mark 2000 9316
3d Mark 2001 6798
3d Mark 03 1960
======================= After O/C
3d Mark 2000 11096
3d Mark 2001 8084
3d Mark 03 2544
Just incase if people dont know 3d mark is a program that gamers can use to benchmark there pc.
