%&^%, I cannot make new units. Whenever I try to edit the zipped database by unzipping it, winzip simply makes a copy of the db in a folder called MyDocuments/Unzipped, and I automaticly save there, instead of the real database. I found this out when I tried placing my new unit in the campaign file: //------------------------------------------------ // AMERICAN 1 - SPED FEILD GUN //------------------------------------------------ UnitType AmericanCampaignSpecialFieldGun { parent = HeavyArtillery properties { HitPoints = 2000 displayName = tx_utn_heavyArt10_name displayNameScenEdit = tx_utn_cmpgnAmerFieldGun_sname verboseTooltip = vtt_unit_siegegun } sounds = { } abilities = [ Attack { range = 300; reloadTime = 1; applyDamageTime = 0.29; damage = 900; missileName = "AtomBomb"; ignoreBlocking = 1; areaDamageRadius = 30; areaDamageFriendlyRatio = 0.5; packTime = 4; unpackTime = 4; turretControllerName = TankTurret; minRangeMobile = 3.0; minRangeImmobile = 3.0 } Move {speed = 3; angSpeed = 180} LOS { range = 30 } ] icon = icon_unit_SiegeGun }
UnitModel AmericanCampaignSpecialFieldGun { Parent = HeavyArtillery_10 DefaultModel = camp_am1_siegegun.nif } And I checked back, it was not there. Does anybody know how to view and edit the REAL zipped database.

are you making sure the file is unchecked read only. to do this right click on the db file, go to properties and then uncheck read only. If you already done this then it could the zip program your using.

Im using WinZip. FreedomFighter, what unzipping program do you use? Maybe that could help. Because Winzip can only "extract to" and can't just unzip it into a normal folder.

You don't really need to unzip it. All you have to do is to get into the db.zip, then go to units and go to the campagin units. cut the campagin units file and paste in to somewhere you can work on. When finished cut the file then paste it back to db units. And remember you need to close Empire Earth II down before doing this.

Ok I modified the campaign files, but when I go to place the new units in the editor, they are not there? After that, I go back, and they are still there, but I still cant put them in via editor

LOL, just like a normal folder, you open a zipped folder by double clicking on it.
And I gussed you have finally got into it, since you said you modified the files. Can you send me the file so I can find the mistakes in there more easily? (kwcheung999@hotmail.com) Thanks.

Not sure if it helps but I found something on EEH. Its a guide to adding new units in game created Mokon although it apparently it has a bug which prevents it from working. Do you want the link FreedomFighter or are you fine without it?

Oh thanks, I've already saw that thread, isn't that one called "We must Mod!!!" in the EE2 Modding section? I'm going to take a look at that program then.

No it's called "The UNFINISHED Unit Creation Guide", go to EE2 modding and search for Mokon as the Author. It doesn't work for some reason but if anyone can fix it it's you.

unfortunately futurewavecs, while an excellent modder has a short fuse, especially with anything to do with maddoc. He didnt take too kindly to the idea of making tools and not giving us instructions...

Whenever I try to make a new unit, It will not show up in the editor, so maybe you could make a tutorial. BTW do I need to make other DB entries for it to work?
