How do you get the population maximum to go up throughout the game? It seems to get stuck at about 110.
ps. I did figure out that the 110 number was because I had the max population set too low for the number of players. ;D

in empire earth I think it was city centers if i remember. If youre talking about empire earth 3 different factions vary in increasing population. West build houses, East build buildings to increase pop and Mid East fortresses.
It should keep increasing if you carry on buildings that are needed to increase the cap. But if its for empire earth 1 then my memory may be little short.

Pzk you got mixed up with EE2! Actually in EE1 the only way to alter the pop cap is to build the Collosium wonder or research a tech in the civilization builder (which only increases about 10 or 20 pop cap). The pop cap is set either in the Random Map generator (when you play skirmish games) or scenario editor (when you play scenarios). If you're playing the campagin on a few scenarios let you build the collosium.

How is it then that the computer players often have far more than my population cap with 15% pop cap and the coloseum. For an example: my cap sits at 225 and the computer has 345 population.

Errr...how did you find out how many units the computer has anyway?
The AI in EE cheats a lot by the way, so it might seem that they have bigger pop cap because their units just come out as soon as you kill them.

I know their population because at the end it gives a game summary and it says their population there at different points throughout the game.
Also in requards to the last posting often my troops do that as well, you just have to tell it to build far more that your pop cap before the pop cap is reached and it will build the extra troops just as soon as their is an opening.

I am ending a game and I noticed, as I looked at the game summary that it gives when ever you stop playing, that for most of the game I have had a great many more population that any of the computer players to which there are seven. They all have been moving up and down within a certain area and I have been nearly twice what they are. They even seem to have a pop cap very low because all of their populations only go so high; they at times flat line at their highest level and it looks just like when I get to a pop cap and hold it for a while. Could their be something early in the game that sets populations at a certain level due to how advanced you are? From the beginning we all shot up like normal but then I kept shooting up and they flat lined all seven of the other computer players hit it at the same time and haven't moved up from that point. I did finally reach a pop cap and there is at least one advancement that also helped my pop cap go up. Any ideas?

I wonder if it has to do with the number of conversions that the priests do. Early in the game I have a good deal of conversions and the other teams didn't. I know that if you are at a pop max and you convert you can have more than the pop cap. Could there be a way that encreases your pop cap due to how many conversions you have?

maby it has to do with the epocs. I started a new game and my population shot up after I reached the second epoc. There are reasons for this such as was no longer saving for a epoc but the other groups did not shoot up nearly such as mine. I am sure there are reasons for this two but I made me ponder.

I'm not sure if the Army Size actually shows the population. In fact I'm not sure what it actually shows. It might be showing the number of military units without counting the citizens or ships.
As for epochs I think there might be a few techs you can research which increases your pop cap. But there's probably only very few of them. It might actually be conversions too, as you suggested. Apparantly the AI sometimes make lots of priests and converted other AIs' units without you noticing.

I have discovered something. The population numbers speak of the maximum ever. When, under the military screen, it mentions army size is it giving the largest number or troops you have ever had. The same is true under the society screen and the citizens. Also the "total population" can look misleading over the other two graphs do to the greater numbers of "people."

pop caps
The pop caps are pretty much set, the only way to change them to any great effect are the civ editor ( +15%) pop cap and by building a coli when your pop is maxed.
When playing through epochs the difficulty in reaching your pop cap quickly is all about the food you produce buts get easier once you get to build farms. Most people that play multi online use a technique called booming ( pretty easy once you hit med) This is done by building settlements near woods six settlements together works ok, upgrade them, keep pumping out citz and set them to chop wood, after about 5 mins you will hit your pop max .
When you hit your pop max use citz to upgrade all other settlements ( they take up to 50 citz) while still pumping out citz, this way you are always increasing pop to max and gathering max resources. When you feel you have enough resources store some citz away in a fortress, de-populate your farms etc ( you should have enough stuff to de-populate everything) now you can use your newly empty pop count to build a huge army :-)
